We will tentatively have a county contest sometime the week of April 13th. This is to serve as a practice contest before District. More information to come soon.

SCHEDULE
Check In: 30 minutes before contest time
Contest Time: will be shared with participants before the contest
Awards: will be presented in each room at the end of all contests in that room

AGE GROUPS
Junior--Grades 3-5
Intermediate--Grades 6-8
Senior--Grades 9-12
Juniors & Intermediates may compete on the same team, but will compete in the Intermediate age group. Seniors must compete with other Seniors.

COST
$15 for first contest, $10 for each additional contest
If you sold 10 or more raffle tickets in 2025 or are a first-year 4-H'er, then your fees are covered by the Lynn County Adult Leaders Association. If you register for the contest but do not end up competing, then you will be responsible for reimbursing your entry fee and will receive an invoice from Lynn County 4-H.
If you did not sell raffle tickets, then you will be responsible for paying your entry fee. You will receive an invoice from Lynn County 4-H. If you end up not competing, then you are still responsible for paying the entry fee.
Invoices will be sent through Square.
Payments may be made via
cash (no service fee)
check, made out to Lynn 4-H Adult Leaders (no service fee)
Venmo: @lynncounty4-h (no service fee
Credit Card: through Square (will incur a 4% service fee)
Please ignore any invoices/requests for payment that come from anyone other than Lynn County 4-H.

GENERAL INFORMATION
4-H'ers will compete individually.
4-H'ers may enter either Public Speaking OR an Educational Presentation. 4-H'ers may enter Public Speaking and Talent Showcase.
If you register for Talent Showcase as well, scheduling will be done to have you compete early in the contest in the room with the lowest entries. You will receive your order of contests at registration. Be prepared to leave the room and immediately go compete in your other category.
SENIORS--the top 3 presentations advance to Texas 4-H Roundup in June on the Texas A&M campus.
There are no props or visual aids in this contest.
The Extension Office will be sending school excuses to each school, as well as checking grade eligibility per UIL rules.

SCHOOL EXCUSES & ELIGIBILITY
4-H'ers competing will be excused from school on Monday, April 27th. The Extension Office will notify the school.
The Extension Office will also check grades to make sure all participants are eligible according to UIL rules.

This contest is open only to Senior 4-H'ers who advance from the District 2 contest.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
You must present the same presentation as you did at District.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This is an individual contest.
Public Speaking is timed:
5-8 minutes for speech
up to 5 minutes for questions/answers
You may choose a topic of your choice that should serve to persuade others regarding a particular issue or concern. It should also be appropriate for a member's age and experience.
Be sure to cite your resources!
Visual aids and props may not be used.
Speeches must be the original work of the 4-H member. 4-H members may NOT share the same presentation delivered by other members/siblings/family members.
Topic resources can include: print media (newspapers, magazines, scholarly journals), broadcast media (television, cable, audio) or e-mail (email, internet, websites)
